This is more than just your basic telephone.  This teaches children to dial.  Children can dial their home phone number (encouraging memorization of this) and hear a message from a family member.  It's a great tool for teaching numbers, phone skills, and language skills in general.

A fun interactive way to encourage children to learn their letters and their sounds.  Once children master naming their letters, you can use this mat to teach them the sounds that go with the letter.  Use the matt to challenge the kids to throw a bean bag on the letter that makes the 'k' sound, etc.  When the child is older, you can use the mat to spell out words even.  Many many ways to play!

If your child has a shorter attention span, this is a good shape sorter for them.  Because it is more interactive with the child, it can keep the child's attention better than your average simple shape sorter.  It is essential to encourage a good attention span for little ones, as early as possible.  Children must be able to first pay attention to something in order to digest and learn it.

Hard to find a kit like this in the stores...  Do you have a pet lover in the family?   Dress up clothes and pretend play are excellent ways to encourage creativity and language skills.  Kids are sure to love this.

My favorite toy for toddlers (well, one of them at least!).  This toy encourages fine motor skills and is very popular in our office--the Occupational Therapist and I are always fighting over it.

This toy teaches it all--colors, numbers, and shapes.  Kids love bean bags and this is a great toy to encourage learning of these basic pre-k skills.  Encourage attention by lining up  a number of bean bags and the child stays with that activity until the bean bags are gone.

Among my favorite books!  This book is great for teaching colors, animals, and sequencing.  Read this book with a young child to teach them concepts of colors and names of animals.  Use this book with an older child to teach sequencing (i.e., what happened first, next, last, etc).
